Madhumati was an actress who acted in Hindi, Marathi, Bhojpuri and Punjabi films. Born in 1938 in Maharashtra, she started dancing at a very young age and got trained in Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Manipuri and Kathakali. She got her first break in a Marathi film which never released but soon got to act in the Kishore Kumar – Mala Sinha starrer ‘Jaal Saz’ in 1959. She later acted in films such as ‘Ankhen’, ‘Shikari’, ‘Mujhe Jeene Do’, ‘Tower House’ and others. Her last appearance was in the film ‘The Gold Medal’ after which she opened her own dance class where she trained aspiring artistes. She died on 15 October 2025 in Mumbai.
