Nadira, born Florence Ezekiel, was an Indian actress who was born to a Baghdadi Jewish family. She started her acting career in the film industry at the young age of 12 with the 1943 film Mauj. As an adult, she made her debut in Bollywood with the 1952 film Aan, directed by Mehboob Khan, in which she played the role of a Rajput princess. The film’s success helped her garner fame. Other important movies of her career include Shree 420 (1956), Police (1958), Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai (1960), Chhoti Chhoti Baatein (1965), Safar (1970), Pakeezah (1972), Julie (1975), Dahshat (1981), and many more.
