Bandhan is a romantic drama starring Leela Chitnis as Beena and Ashok Kumar as Nirmal. Beena, daughter of a village zamindar Bholanath, is engaged to her father’s friend’s son Suresh. Beena, however, is secretly in love with Nirmal, a new schoolmaster in the village. Suresh’s father learns the truth about Beena and Nirmal’s affair and forces Nirmal to leave the village. Unable to bear the separation, Beena invites Nirmal to meet her secretly at midnight. The same night, Suresh brutally injures a village resident named Gouri. Nirmal arrives on the scene and is arrested. Now Gouri’s recovery is the only hope to get Nirmal acquitted.
