Salma is a musical romantic drama. The movie revolves around a young man named Nawabzada Aslam (Raj Babbar), who lives a wealthy lifestyle with his parents in Lucknow. He is a poet and writes poems under the pen name of Raj Lucknavi and is close friends with Iqbaal (Farooq Shaikh). Aslam falls in love with a Banaras-based courtesan, Salma Banarasi (Salma Agha), but his parents are enraged by the match so that his father shoots him and he is hospitalized. When he finally recovers, he finds out that Salma has accepted Iqbal as her lover, and taken money from Aslam’s family to be away from him. He decides to take revenge from Salma by marrying his cousin, Mumtaz (Shoma Anand), and making Salma dance and sing in his wedding. Will this be the end to Aslam and Salma’s love story?
