Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jaffrey, better known by his stage name Jagdeep, was an Indian actor and comedian, who has acted in over 400 films in his career spanning for over 60 years. He started his career as a child artist with B. R. Chopra’s Afsana (1951), and as a child artist, he also appeared in Do Bigha Zamin (1953), Munna (1954), Ab Dilli Door Nahin (1957), etc. As an adult he was launched as a leading man and acted in Bhabhi (1957), Barkha (1959), Bindiya (1960), etc. Some important movies of his career include Bhai Ho To Aisa (1972), Sholay (1975), Purana Mandir (1983), Soorma Bhopali (1988), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), and many more. He married three times to Naseem Begum, Sughra Begum and Nazima, and had a total of six children, including actor and dancer Jaaved Jaaferi.
